Ethical Monetization Policy
Predatory Monetization

This includes:
-
Gambling mechanics
-
Dark patterns (ex. making it difficult to cancel a subscription)
-
Hidden costs
-
Fake sales

Gambling mechanics can lead to addiction. Dark patterns and fake sales are just dishonest.
This is a red line we will not cross. What you buy is what you get.

Mojang does not generally enforce any of this on Java Edition.

Pay-to-Win

Pay-to-win, on a personal level, makes a game distasteful to play. But in the case of Minecraft servers, it’s usually necessary to be at all profitable. There’s nothing morally wrong with it necessarily, it just makes the gameplay experience worse.

Different but roughly equal abilities early if you pay $300 ranks that give you infinite Netherite and flight

Mojang usually only enforces against pay to win when it directly affects a leaderboard. So selling XP and having a level leaderboard is banned.
